About Lisa

Least Info: I am intensely fond of food…it is edible art. I MUST consume it, photograph it, talk about it, think about it, think about what I just ate, prepare for what I will eat next, get lost in what I am eating…you get the idea. Oh, and I like waffles.
Some more Info: I have a flair for the unusual, a well-developed dark side and adore being ridiculously goofy. I am refined as well as a certifiable weirdo. I am also probably the annoying person that is always taking pictures of food that you want to punch in the neck. Also, I really really like waffles.
Even more Info: My name is Lisa (der) and I’m a photographer, scientist and traveler who’s greatest joy stems straight from experiencing my deep affection for all things food and wine related. Have I mentioned that I like waffles?
In an effort to share my photographs, I started posting them on Facebook. With all the positive feedback I’ve received, my illness has grown into a fiery affliction. Through much encouragement and support I decided to start my official food blog: “Lisa’s Culinary Atrocities“
This blog will serve as the place that I can organize and consolidate my many food-related interests including photographs, recipes, musings, travels, experiments, darn cute things and who knows what else. I am very excited to find out what that might be! I bet it will have a lot to do with waffles.
Too much Info: If you’re still interested and still reading, it was originally my beloved Daddy who first introduced me not only to science but also to photography, fine food and wine, and the curiosity to eat unusual foods. He taught me an ease towards life and a certain grace in all things that cannot be replicated and I am ever grateful. Today, we very much enjoy traveling together, photographing and eating/drinking our way around wherever we are.
I have a few more significant inspirations I must mention, one being my dear family member Jenny K. Her foods are absolute perfection. She is the type of kitchenista that considers the kitchen her sanctuary and the process of cooking and creating her therapy. She strives for beautiful healthy food and always finds the perfect way to make any recipe just that. Secondly, Kathy S., whose every amazing feast could be in Gourmet. She makes each meal special, beautiful and seemingly effortless. I strive to cook as easily and as elegantly as both of these amazing women and very much hope to obtain and make some of their recipes on this blog.
Way TMI: When you first meet me I am very quiet and reserved. When you get to know me I have a propensity towards acting like cat, making strange noises and dancing in a bizarre manner. Sometimes things will come out of my mouth that shouldn’t and I will often answer questions with incoherent noises. Also, I would very much like to be bioluminescent and have a tail. Did I mention that I like waffles?
